Northwestern High School senior Journey Amundson broke her personal record by a foot in the triple jump and joined teammate Abby Nelson with top-four finishes Friday at the WIAA Division 2 State Track and Field Championships at UW-La Crosse.

Amundson soared 36 feet, 8 inches to place fourth in her event. Wisconsin Luther freshman Jaiah Hopf nailed a 38-7.5 jump to take first.

Nelson, whose best vault coming into state was 11-3, made a 10-6 vault to tie for third. Richland Center junior Abby Rynes won with an 11-6 vault.

Northwestern senior Michael Knaack was 12th in the 200-meter preliminaries and did not qualify for Saturday's finals.
