Northwestern High School's Kordell Swanson and Trevor Priem have advanced to the 94th annual WIAA Boys Golf Championships Monday and Tuesday, June 3-4, at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.3119.S.ST
Swanson was the top individual qualifier, finishing in fifth place with a score of 75, at the WIAA Division 2 Sectional Wednesday, May 28, at the Hayward Golf Course.
Swanson’s round included 35 on the front nine, which at the time put him in first place.
Priem, who golfed in last year's state tournament, finished in 10th place with a 79.
Rice Lake's Simon Cuskey and Blake Zadra shared medalist honors with 73s.
The Tigers just missed advancing as a team, finishing in third place with a score of 315. Lakeland Union finished in first place at 303, one stroke better than Rice Lake's 304.
Also for Northwestern, Brett Botten tied for 11th place with an 80; Spencer Anttikla was 17th at 81; and Trent Meyer tied for 49th with a 92.
State competition begins at 7 a.m. on both days.
