The Solon Springs High School softball team clinched the Indianhead Conference championship with a 7-5 victory over the Drummond Lumberjacks on Friday, May 17, in Drummond.

The only other conference title for Solon Springs came in 2014.

"I'm very proud of these girls," SSHS coach Dale Rajala said. "They’ve worked very hard this whole season, it’s great to see them get rewarded for it."

Kylli Rajala picked up the complete-game victory on the mound for the Eagles, allowing five hits with nine strikeouts. Only two of Drummond's runs were earned.

"Kylli has been the driving force for this team all season," coach Rajala said. "She’s put us in position to compete in every game. I'm very proud of her."

The Eagles supported Rajala with 10 hits, led by Allison Androsky, who was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

Muree Ahlberg added a double, single and two RBIs; Rajall helped her own cause with a double, single and had one RBI; Maddelyn Swanson had an RBI single; and Michyla Christianson, Taylor Routley and Jessica Reilly each singled.

Kelsie Wiezorek had doubled, singled and knocked in two runs for Drummond, while Marissa Miller suffered the complete-game loss, finishing with five strikeouts and two walks.

Solon Springs is the No. 2 seed for the WIAA Division 5 playoffs and hosted No. 7 Birchwood on Monday, May 20. If the Eagles won, they will host the winner of the Northwood-Mellen game Thursday, May 23.
