Isak Coyle, an eighth-grade student at the Superior Middle School, competed in the United States of America Snowboard Association’s national snowboard competition March 31 to April 5 at Copper Mountain in Frisco, Colo.
Competing in the boys 12-13 division, Coyle placed 17th in Slopestyle, 17th in Rail Jam and 37th in Boardercross.
Coyle, who trains with the G Team at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, advanced to nationals after finishing as a top competitor in Minnesota. Prior to nationals, he was ranked fifth in Rail Jam, 40th in Slope Style and 92nd in Boardercross by the USASA. There are more than 500 kids in his age group.
The G Team works with riders of all ability levels and ages in competitive and noncompetitive teams. Riders get to train with experienced and professional coaches to reach their desired goals in snowboarding.
