Superior's Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department and the Urban Forestry Board are joining forces to celebrate trees.

The celebration runs 5-7 p.m. April 26 at Fairlawn Mansion, 906 E. Second St.

The event includes a proclamation by Mayor Jim Paine, a brief history of Arbor Day celebrations and the Tree City USA designation.

Superior is in its 20th year as a Tree City USA community.

During the event, a fiesta sugar maple will be planted, and cookies and coffee will be served.

Paul Hlina, a botanist at Leaning Pine Natives presents the "Future Trends for Planting Trees in Douglas County" starting at 6 p.m.
