The Superior Middle School wrestling team recently competed in a trio of meets, including the North Shore Classic in Proctor on Feb. 9; the Proctor Youth Invitational Tournament on Feb. 10; and the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Youth Tournament on Feb. 10.

Superior had six kids compete in Proctor’s Youth Invite, led by Justin Rookey, who finished third, and Aeven Devera, who came in fourth.

At Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, Superior’s Jason Thomas finished in first place and Eric Winterscheidt finished second.

Thomas won 8-1, pinned his second opponent in the second period, and pinned his third opponent in 25 seconds; while Winterscheidt won 6-0, got pinned, and pinned his third opponent in 59 seconds.

The club also sent 15 kids compete to Proctor’s North Shore Classic.

Competing in the North Shore Classic for Superior:

First grade - Noah Renfroe (third), Nathan Madsen (third), and Chase Lieble (third).

Third grade - Lyle Kokolis (third).

Fourth grade - Noah Rudkin (first), Brayden Holsclaw (third), and Logan Madsen (fourth).

Fifth grade - Jamison Cornelius (third), Aeven Devera (second).

Sixth grade - Justin Rookey Jr. (second).

Seventh grade - Ethan Ostman (fourth).

Eighth grade - Trevor Derick (first), Caden Ostman (third), Thomas (first) and Winterscheidt (second).

NOTE: More than 300 wrestlers are expected to be competing in Superior’s Youth (K-8) Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Superior Middle School.
