The University of Wisconsin-Superior volleyball team moved into a tie for first place in the UMAC with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-23) win over Northwestern Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.
The loss snapped the Eagles’ 65-match winning streak, which started on Oct. 5, 2013.
The Yellowjackets (18-9, 12-1 UMAC) got 11 kills from Taylor Howe and 10 each from Hannah Goggleye and Cami Sletta. Emily VerWay added 39 assists and 11 digs, Karlie Leif also had 11 digs, and Ashley Bayer had four blocks.
The Yellowjackets, who lost 3-0 to Northwestern on Sept. 26 in St. Paul, attacked at a clip of .302 in the victory.
The Eagles (19-7, 12-1 UMAC) got a game-high 21 kills from Jenay Fuglestad.
Things don’t get any easier for the Yellowjackets as they play at Minnesota Morris at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Morris is currently in third place in the UMAC.
