Northwestern's Miesbauer second in shot
Northwestern High School's Ryan Miesbauer finished in second place in the shot put at the WIAA Division 2 State Track and Field Meet Saturday at UW-La Crosse.
Miesbauer's toss of 57 feet, 7 inches was beat out by Little Chute's Cody Evers' distance of 58-5.25.
Miesbauer's second-place finish, along with Nate Nelson's fourth-place finish in the pole vault Friday, led the Tigers to a 19th place finish with 13 points.
Nelson, a senior, soared 13 feet, 3 inches, tying for third with Westby's Kenny Schumacher but slipping to fourth via a tiebreaker. Cliff McCann of Virocqua cleared 14-3 to win the event.
Also for the Tigers, Carolyn Prochaska was ninth in the pole vault, Lee Brown was 13th in the 300-meter hurdles, the boys' 4x800 relay team of Austin Berube, Jake Schiff, Zach Yepma and Jimmy Hosey finished in 14th place, the 4x400 relay of Steven Perry, Hosey, Schiff and Brown finished 15th and the girls 4x800 relay team of Beth Gurske, Nicolette Amber, Angela Snow and Jordan Johnson came in 14th place.
