Letter: Let officials know tests waste money
Standardized tests not necessary in rocky times.
I have written and submitted my comments regarding standardized testing at this time to the U.S. Department of Education.
Schools, school districts, children, parents and communities have always been variable. With the pandemic and so many more variables at work: motivation of children, parents, their capabilities with hardware at home, materials given by teachers and home environments, it is my belief that money spent on standardized tests will be wasted.
A teacher, school can assess the students. Spend the money on materials to improve the education and well-being of students. Maybe those who sell the standardized tests will benefit but little else.
I hope that those in this community will make their wishes known to the federal government and to their local school officials.
