Letter: Enbridge 5 reroute won't change anything
"Whether the energy you use comes directly from Line 5 or not, removing this amount of energy from the market will greatly reduce our region’s energy supply and lead to higher prices."
As an energy consultant, I can assure you the quickest way to drive energy prices even higher is to remove supply from the market.
As a resident of Hayward, I can also tell you that when propane, gas and diesel prices increase, our friends, neighbors and families suffer financially.
That’s why it’s so important that we northern Wisconsinites speak up and voice our support of the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline reroute project. Moving 540,000 barrels of crude oil and natural gas liquids each day, which are turned into the propane, gas and diesel we all rely on, Line 5 is vital to the energy market throughout the Midwest.
Whether the energy you use comes directly from Line 5 or not, removing this amount of energy from the market will greatly reduce our region’s energy supply and lead to higher prices.
Anyone that’s lives or has visited our area will tell you of the beautiful lakes, rivers and forests, and after the Line 5 reroute project is completed none of that will change — the pipeline has after all been operating safely and quietly in northern Wisconsin since the 1950s.
Working in the energy industry, knowing the energy markets, and being a resident of the area, I support the Line 5 reroute project and I hope you will as well.
