In the Superior Telegram from Friday, April 23 ("Superior extends mask mandate to June 1," Page A1), Mayor Jim Paine was quoted: "I believe (the mask mandate extension) is necessary."

In no way should "belief" inform a decision that forces sovereign individuals to behave a certain way.

Where is the evidence that demonstrates mask efficacy? And what are the long-term effects on the little children who are forced to cover their faces, every day, for six hours?

That aside, it's not the city's place to "mandate" anything in regard to what I can or cannot do with my own body and God-given free will.

Be well.
