The Twin Ports Mustang & Ford Club once again held a car show on Father’s Day at the Belknap Plaza Shopping Center, and a number of high school students were asked by the club if we wanted to participate.
Each year Chris Polson mentors high school students who must do a senior project before they graduate. This year, my project was organizing a fundraiser. We needed sponsors and we were thrilled that so many wonderful businesses participated with donations to make this a success.
We sold hot dogs, pop and chips at the car show, and Dee Fetters organized a bake sale which included numerous animal groups who would share the money raised. This year Critter Harbor, Friends of Animals, Seeds of Hope and Warm Fuzzies accepted the invitation to join us.
A&W donated an enormous amount of delicious hot dogs and buns, and the manager there was very nice and helpful.
The Billings Park ICO, although asked at the last minute for soft drink donations due to a communications glitch, came through with flying colors for us, donating various soda and Snapple, a crowd favorite. Thanks so much Sue Weber.
Super One donated hot dogs, and also a gift card which helped in purchasing paper products, while the Kwik Trip on Tower Avenue donated all the buns we needed and more.
The Superior High School graduation party donated a large amount of chips and drinks, while all of the animal groups baked delicious goodies which were a huge hit.
Nearly $600 was raised and divided among various animal groups, and the Mustang & Ford Club also donated $81 to each group. Everyone had a wonderful time, furry friends were brought by some of the organizations, the weather was perfect, the turnout was fantastic and the entire event was planned very well.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who donated and participated, especially the fabulous animal groups who unselfishly gave their entire day and many days before helping to plan and execute their portion of this great fundraising event for the animals.
Hope Landberg,
Superior High School senior
