If it’s not broke ...

I support Dan Blank for re-election as our Douglas County district attorney. Remember the old adage, folks: "If it's not broken, don't fix it!" Election "fixes" often come about by voters getting tired of politics in general, and often well deserved.

I support Dan Blank for re-election as our Douglas County district attorney. Remember the old adage, folks: “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!” Election “fixes” often come about by voters getting tired of politics in general, and often well deserved.

But, do not confuse general politics with the election of a district attorney who is duty-sworn and bound to protect the entire public - including alleged criminals and juvenile delinquents and their families - not just the victims.
Rather, the district attorney is elected to represent all of the public, to bring restorative justice to real victims of crime, to bring not only punishment to people who have committed these crimes, but also to help to rehabilitate those unfortunate members of our community who have (for many questionable yet very real reasons) due to their circumstances, committed adult and juvenile crimes. Additionally, the district attorney intervenes in helping hurting juveniles and their often dysfunctional families to restore (or often learn) family values and create a fresh new functional family which benefits our area.
To accomplish this massive and never-ending task, the district attorney has to learn to know our community and all of its members. And who knows this wonderful Superior-Douglas County area better than Dan Blank, who has served us faithfully, even at the risk of his own life and that of his family for over 25 years. Remember the “Dan Blank Lives Here” signs all over our community after he and his family were firebombed for protecting our community against a violent, drug-dealing gang?
Dan Blank knows our community, and for over 25 years as a local lawyer with him as our district attorney, I have seen him help to restore and rehabilitate countless dysfunctional families, and juvenile and adult criminals.
Do not change what is working great for all of us in our District Attorney’s Office. Dan Blank is not a politician and has always been and is still a good and dedicated lawyer serving our community. Vote for Dan Blank - he has earned it, and we deserve it! Thank you.
