Boardwalk column: Property tax payments due July 31

Payments must be received by the treasurer’s office within five business days of the due date or postmarked by July 31 or they will be considered late and subject to a 1% interest rate per Wisconsin law.

The Douglas County Treasurer’s Office reminds citizens that the second installments of property tax payments are due by July 31.

You may pay online at the Douglas County website, via mail, via the drop box located outside of the Government Center on the north side, or in person at the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office, room 102 of the courthouse. Payments must be received by the treasurer’s office within five business days of the due date or postmarked by July 31 or they will be considered late and subject to a 1% interest rate per Wisconsin law. Due to ongoing interest in promoting access to the COVID-19 vaccine, the community clinic at Wessman Arena has resumed. The new ongoing schedule began Tuesday, July 20: Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be a household hazardous waste collection for Douglas County residents on Aug. 31 from 2-6 p.m. at the Parkland Town Hall. Please call Warren Johnson at Northwest Regional Planning Commission with questions, 715-635-2197. A list of acceptable items is available on the Douglas County Facebook page.

The Douglas County Board is on hiatus for the month of July. Other committees may still meet.

There are several meetings on the calendar for the next few weeks:

The forest, parks and recreation meeting previously scheduled for Monday, July 26, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. has been cancelled.

The land and development committee meets on Tuesday, July 27, from 3-5 p.m. in room 201 of the Government Center.

The board of adjustment meets on Wednesday, July 28. from 10 a.m. to noon in room 201 of the Government Center.

The public safety committee previously scheduled for Thursday, July 29, from 4-6 p.m. has been cancelled.
