SUPERIOR — The Douglas County Highway Department would like to notify citizens of an upcoming road closure due to railroad crossing repairs.
Douglas County Highway Z to Hammond Avenue in the town of Superior will be closed from 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Please call the highway department at 715-374-2575 with questions or concerns.
Harmful blue-green algae blooms have been identified near Barker’s Island Beach and near the Pickle Pond area in Superior. Blue-green algae is toxic to pets and people! Please be safe when visiting these locations.
Rinse yourself and your pets off with clean water if you come in contact with blue-green algae scum, globs or discolored water; offer fresh, clean water for pets to drink; don’t let pets or people swim in or drink from discolored water, or where you see foam, scum or floating globs of blue-green algae; don’t let pets or people eat or play with globs of blue-green algae; seek veterinary care right away for pets who may have been poisoned by blue-green algae. Symptoms may include drooling, weakness, vomiting, staggering and convulsions.
One meeting is on the calendar for next week: the zoning committee will meet from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 in room 201 of the Government Center.
