Medicare has deprived me of health insurance for the past 21 months, causing a terrible feeling of insecurity, agonizing stress and sleepless nights.

I injured my shoulder on property insured by Fireman's Insurance Co., Medicare posted them as my primary insurance and denied any and all claims in spite of the fact that I was paying primary premiums to Medicare and liability had not been established by the court.

Since Medicare did not approve claims the NDM Bklyrs & Allied Craft Workers Health Fund had no responsibility to pay either. I paid $90-plus monthly to Medicare and $190-plus to my supplement and have been deprived of health care totally unrelated to any injury, and I am still paying these premiums.

I have hired attorneys who have now settled the claim with Fireman's Insurance, and I am still being held hostage in limbo by Medicare's refusal to live up to its responsibilities.

In all fairness they should immediately reinstate me as a primary carrier and refund the premiums they collected for the time I was deprived of health insurance.

I have for months (2 years) spent hours phoning -- visited benefit specialist Pat Nelson at the courthouse, made trips to business offices of various health facilities involved, to no avail. Medicare people take no responsibility.

I am 86 and they are waiting for me to drop dead and everything will be resolved. How many others are being treated this way? I fear it is a common practice.
