Thomas A. Benson

Thomas A. “Tom” Benson, 79, lifelong Superior resident, died Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.
He was born in Superior, WI, August 13, 1940, the son of Otto and Catherine (Archambeault) Benson.
Tom graduated high school and worked as a carpenter at the Union Hall for many years before his retirement.
He was a lifelong Carpenters Union member, and a member of Good Neighbor Sam.
He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Ida) Aspling, and Tom (Laura) Aspling; daughters, Penny (Scott) Wegner, and Shelly (Pat) Koll; sister, Darlene (Glenn) Kloskin; brothers, James (Diane) Benson, Robert (Shirley) Benson, and Richard (Sally) Benson; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Catherine; sister, Betty Romanick; brother, Bill Benson; sons, Scott, Jon, and Stacey; and grandson, Brett.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 9, 2020, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E. 4th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date.
