Steven ‘Steve’ P. Sorensen, 63, lifelong resident of Superior, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

He was born on July 14, 1958, the son of Lawrence and Patricia Sorensen.

Steve went to school in Superior and played high school hockey.

He began working at a young age for his family business, Upper Lakes Foods, and continued to do so for many years. Steve then opened and ran a retail food service store, Food Service Market Place, with his immediate family from 2011 to 2014. Most recently, he enjoyed working for Jeff Foster Trucking as their head of safety. Work was not only a means of income, but also a passion for Steve.

He enjoyed playing MHL Hockey with his childhood friends, fishing, golfing, helping others, and drinking a beer after a hard day’s work.

Most of all, Steve loved being with his family. He often said how proud he was of his children and loved all the milestones his grandchildren reached. Steve often helped his daughters with projects on their hobby farms and helped make deliveries for his son’s business. He was known to call or stop by just to say “hi” and “I love you”. Every time the kids left his house, he would carry out a grandchild or two and wait in the driveway until they pulled away, rain or shine.

Steve gave many people a lifetime of memories. Too many to capture in a single obituary. In honor of Steve, put on your suspenders, grab a cold beer, and cheers to a day well done.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his canine companion and little buddy, Taz.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sigrid; mother-in-law, Hilde Kausch; children, Lauren (Chris) Mehtala, Matt (Jackie) Sorensen, and Danielle (Bill) Egge; grandchildren, Oliver, Ottis, Bennett, Minna, Ella, and Lola; siblings, Sue (Craig) Ryan, Scott (Gretchen) Sorensen, and Shawn (Denise) Sorensen; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Billings Park Civic Center, 3903 N 18th St, Superior.

The family would like to thank all our family and friends for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
