Rusty Williams

Rusty Williams, age 78, of Iron River, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 24, 1943 in Milwaukee, the son of Harvey and Ruth (Gintner) Williams.

Rusty graduated from Iron River High School in 1961. He worked for over 40 years as a car salesman and retired from Von Holzen Inc. in 2006. Rusty married Patti LaManna on February 14, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV and the couple resided in Iron River.

Rusty was instrumental in the planning and improvements of the Iron River area. He always wanted to make a difference and was happy to serve on the Bayfield County Board, Iron River Town Board where he served two years as chairman. He also served on the Iron River Co-Op Board and the Sanitary District Board of Commissioners.

Rusty was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, bird watching, gardening, bowling and took great pride in taking care of his lawn and the landscaping around his home.

Rusty loved his family and enjoyed the special trips to Montana for hunting and Lambeau Field for a Packers game. He also had a special spot in his heart for his German Shepherds.

He is survived by his wife, Patti; daughters, Lori (Chris) Carignan and Shelly (Brian) McMinn; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jake), Rusty, Blake, Austin and Brenden; great grandchildren, Layla, Maverick, Charlee and Levi; mother-in-law, Eadie McGehee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Teresa LaManna; step-brother, Brian Raivala; and other extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jan Williams and step-brother, Bill Raivala Jr.

A celebration of Rusty’s life will be held from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm Friday, January 21st at the Iron River Community Center. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred.
