Richard William Tuttle

Richard William Tuttle, 69 of Ashland, WI passed away on Wednesday, July, 24, 2019. Rick was born on March 17, 1950 in Ashland to William and Genevieve (Rapolz) Tuttle. His early years were spent in Superior where he graduated from Superior Senior High and UW Superior. With a selective service draft number of 33, he knew his next step would be the US Army where he served in Korea for 2 years. Returning he received his MBA from UW Whitewater.

He worked in Job Service in Grafton, WI and was the personnel director for Phillips Plastics in Medford WI before returning to Ashland to partner with John Coffey to start an accounting business. From GBS to TBS to Tuttle’s Accounting, Rick served the business community and individuals for 37 years.

Rick married Kathy Kolonko on October 8, 1983 in Ashland, WI. He enjoyed the outdoors, be it a golf course, the cabin on the Pike Lake Chain or a walk on the “80” in Delta. Nothing fueled his soul more than a walk in the woods or kayaking on the lake. Learning at the feet of his father, he was a lifelong hunter of deer and grouse, the latter with his Brittany spaniels, Kelly and then Brandy. From an early age, he was an avid reader with interest in a vast array of topics.

Rick is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy of Ashland and son Brian William Tuttle of Golden Valley, MN.Also surviving are his brother Bill Tuttle and sister Bonnie (John) Westman both of Ashland and in-laws Ken (Glenda) Kolonko and John (Donna) Kolonko as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rick was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #137, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, the Ashland Chamber of Commerce and the Iron River Pike Chain of Lakes Association.

Over the past five months, the kindness and support from family, friends and clients touched him deeply. He never imagined the number of lives he touched until the outpouring of mail and visits to express appreciation of his friendship and service. Rick was a true friend to many and a trusted professional to those he served. He will be missed by many.

The celebration of Rick’s life will be Friday, August 2nd at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 215 Lake Shore Drive East, Ashland, WI 54806. A gathering of family and friends will begin at noon with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm, followed by inurnment at St. Agnes Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the United Chequamegon Area Veterans. A gathering at the Alley, 806 Main St West, in Ashland, will be held afterwards.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen WI.
