Patricia Helen Collins

Patricia Helen Collins passed away July 3, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born November 27, 1948, in Superior Wisconsin, to Rose Tekla Collins and Edward Patrick Collins, who preceded her in death. Patsy, as her family called her, was the youngest of nine children. She is survived by her brothers, Patrick E. Collins and Dennis J. Collins, and sisters, Sharon A. Mackiewicz, Sandra J. Burnham and Kathren H. Reed, by Sherry LeBus of San Antonio, Texas, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Patsy graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1967. After graduation, she worked at various jobs in Superior and Duluth, then attended college in Minnesota for a few years. She returned to Superior and worked at the Douglas County Department of Human Services from 1980-1989. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1989, then received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1992. While there, she was honored with the Mary Kelly Quackenbush Memorial Award given for outstanding publication in the Wisconsin International Law Journal. She passed both the Wisconsin and Texas state bar exams and served as general counsel to the Wisconsin Board of Vocational, Technical and Adult Education from 1992 to 1995. She then moved to Texas, where she worked at the San Antonio Office of Hearings and Appeals, Social Security Administration, until July 1995 when she retired. After retirement, Patsy decided to try her hand at writing a book, which was ultimately selected for publication and is scheduled for release later this year.
