Patricia F. Van Alstine

Patricia F. Van Alstine, 78, of Superior, died Tuesday September 29, 2020 at her residence surrounded by family and friends.
Patricia was born in Long Island, NY on Nov. 9, 1941 to Florence (Cichy) and Senior Master Sergeant E-8 Stanley Lojewski.
She had worked various jobs to include a Cook at Julie’s, Kitch’s, and Louis’ Restaurant, an Electronic Assembler at Duluth Avionics, a Drill Press Operator at Abex, a Lab Inspector at Chun King, and an Aluminum Siding Applicator at United Improvement Distributors. One of Patricia’s biggest achievements was receiving state recognition for her diplomatic work with the Title I Program for the City of Superior, Wisconsin. She took an untried, inspiring Federal program and made it successful to where today is implemented in every school system nationwide.
In Patricia’s leisure time, she managed and played on a women’s softball team, bowled on a Superior league, set up and ran the Women’s Pool League, and enjoyed gambling and playing Bingo. Most important to her was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jeffrey and Gary Van Alstine; grandson, Joseph Van Alstine; brothers-in-law, Dennis and John Van Alstine; niece, Angela Halvorson; and nephews, Michael Hatcher and Lance Corporal Adam Van Alstine.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 59 years, Andrew; children, Lori (Paul Horvatich) Van Alstine of Duluth, Andrew P. Van Alstine of Proctor, and Rebecca ‘Becky’ (Randy) Freeman of Superior; grandchildren, Bree Anna (Todd) Odell, Amanda Horvatich, Stephanie (Justin) Thompson, Nicholas Van Alstine, Shayla (Joe) Cheever, and Kameren Freeman; great-grandchildren, Jeramiah, Cory, Michael, Brooklyn, Gracelyn, Sofia, Thomas, and Lena; sisters, Nancy (Rudy) King, Kathy (Ron) Hatcher, and Barbara Caldwell; brother, Stanley (Sandy) Lojewski, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Patricia Cusick.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 9th at 11:00 a.m. with services starting at noon at the Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St. Rev. Kathy Ulrich will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
