Richard I. Nummi

Lt. Col Richard I. Nummi,
USAF (Ret) was born and raised in Superior, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Wisconsin State University, Superior (BS), attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, University of Evansville (MA) and University of South Florida. He received a USAF officer’s commission commensurate with graduation from AFROTC-WSU. He is a Vietnam War veteran with stateside service at Military Airlift, Tactical Air Force and Joint-US Readiness Commands. Following a USAF career and permanent move to St. Petersburg, he attended the University of South Florida; built computers and designed-installed IT networks. He was active in his church and served Sonbeam Via de Cristo (Lay ecumenical ministry). He was preceded in death by his parents Iver and Mae Numminen and two brothers Harold and Donald Nummi. He was married to his high school sweetheart Barbara (Barbo) for 47 years before her passing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Diane, his sons: Richard and Ronald; Diane’s children Tim, and Jennifer. Grandchildren: Barbara Anne, David, Taylor, Steven, Nate, Andres, and Montgomery; and great-grandchildren: Oliver and Trista. Additionally, his sister-in-law Betty Ann, nephews: Patrick, Kay, Michael, Donald Jr., Julie, Susan, Amy, and Robert.
