Marylin Louise Burger, 89, longtime area resident, died peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2023, at her home in Barnes, WI.

Marylin was born on April 17, 1933, in Superior to Eugene and Alyce David, their third child. She graduated from Northwestern High School, class of 1951.

Marylin loved spending time with her family. She looked forward to having everyone together laughing, telling stories, and making memories. Family reunions, the fourth of July and pontoon rides were the summer highlights at the cabin on Ellison Lake.

Dancing was Marylin’s passion. She never missed a beat, would light up the dance floor with her smile dancing all night long. Her husband Walt of 67 years will have his arms wide open to embrace her in heaven. When they danced together, we could hear their hearts speak with each step.

Besides her passion for dancing, she also loved to garden, bake, play cards, and watch sports. The TV was always on the sports channel. She was an enthusiastic sports fan for her favorite Wisconsin teams: Northwestern Tigers, Badgers, Brewers, and The Packers. She was also a talented crafter with exceptional knitting and crocheting skills, keeping all of her grandchildren warm in sweaters and Afghans.

When the weather started to get chilly, she looked forward to spending her winters in Florida with her friends and the warm sun at the pool.

Marylin was a member of the Barnes Community Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Doris (Brant) Hannula, Rosanne (Mas) Fukushima, Karen O’Brien (Darrell Dalbec), Peggy (Scott) Moreland; one son, Doug (Lauren); eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren;

Surviving siblings are half-brothers, John (Chris) David and Mike (Betty) David; stepbrother and sister, Robert (Janice) Whittaker Jr. and Marjorie L. Whittaker.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Eugene David, Bob David, and Barbara Halonen; half-sister, Elizabeth Irvin (David); step-brother and sisters, William Whittaker, Kathrin L. Mathis (Whittaker), and Linda Diane Owens (Whittaker).

The family would like to express special thanks to Jessie for spending time chatting and playing cards with Mom. She really enjoyed seeing you.
