Lawrence ‘Larry’ Gilbertson

Lawrence ‘Larry’ A. Gilbertson, 85, of Superior, died Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Villa Marina Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Larry was born in Ashland, WI on June 6, 1937, the son of Herbert and Edna (Wileman) Gilbertson, and was raised in Park Falls, WI.

He married Eileen Erickson on July 13, 1957, and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.

He had been General Manager at Ryland Ford and retired as an Auto Body Instructor at Lake Superior College in 2011.

Larry was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the Perkins Coffee Clutch (weekly with his good friends) and past member of the Superior Elks Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garage. He also loved spending time with his family, especially at the cabin in Lake Nebagamon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Keith Gilbertson.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Brenda (Richard ‘Ike’) Eisenmann, Rick (Debi) Gilbertson, Thomas (Cindy) Gilbertson, Bradley (Joanne) Gilbertson, Jeff Gilbertson, Jerry Gilbertson, special family member Bonnie (William) Schroeder; grandchildren, Heather (Al) DeMeyer, Grant Gilbertson, Anna (Tom) Downs, Katy (Clayton) Johnson, Julie (Adam) DeMeyer, Emily (Bryan) Wick, Haley (Ryan)Radzak, Noah (Cate) Gilbertson, Paige Gilbertson, Brock Gilbertson, Dustin (Emily) Gilbertson, Nicholas Gilbertson, Makayla Pietrowski, Mitchell Graskey, Shane McCallum, and Chelsea (Adam) Olsen; 25 great grandchildren; sister, Judith Lundgren; and Brother, Ronald (Cookie) Gilbertson.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 26th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral service at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Avenue with Pastor Sean Koos as officiant. Lunch will be served at the church immediately following the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery following lunch.
