Joseph H. Glonek

Joseph H. Glonek, 90, lifelong resident of Superior died peacefully, Friday, December 23, 2022, at Superior Health and Rehabilitation with loving family by his side. He was born in Superior on August 15, 1932, the son of George and Margaret (Liska) Glonek and graduated with the Class of 1950 from Central High School in Superior. Joe served his country honorably in the United States Army from December 1952 - December 1954.

He was united in marriage to Doris Lido on June 21, 1952 - the longest day of the year to make their love last forever - and they enjoyed seventy years, six months and two days of marriage before his passing.

Joe worked for the Federal Department of Labor for many years as a Supervisory Apprenticeship and Training Representative, retiring in August, 1997. Previous employment included Chief Engineer at King Midas Flour Mill and Electrician at the US Steel Plant, as well as Apprenticeship and Training Representative for the State of Wisconsin Department of Labor. He was a longtime member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church in Superior and was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He enjoyed reunions with former US Steel coworkers and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Joe was a family man who believed faith, family and friends to be of utmost importance. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Doris Glonek, Superior, WI; children, Denise Glonek, San Francisco, CA; Doreen Robinson, Duluth, MN; Darla (Dennis) Johnson, Superior, WI; Annette (Ed Vorisek) Ziegman, Healy, AK; Gary (Kathy) Glonek, Montreal, WI; and Rodney Glonek, Grantsburg, WI; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph S. Glonek in January 2022; his sisters, Dolores “Lorrey” Kastberg and Margaret “Mickey” Saline; brothers, George and William “Bill” Glonek, and his parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 5601 Tower Avenue in Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Pallbearers for the service will be son, Rodney Glonek, grandson Carl Wagner, nephews Greg Kastner, William Glonek, Jim Glonek, George Glonek. Honorary Pallbearers are nephews Don Saline, Mark Dalbec, Jason Dalbec, and Tyler Dalbec.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
