Florence (Klarstrom) Olson
Florence Irene Olson, 90, lifelong Superior resident, died at Essentia Health after a long life well lived. She was born May 5, 1931, to Nels and Matilda Klarstrom.
Florence was born the 10th and youngest child in the Klarstrom family. She graduated from Central High School in 1949 and married Kenneth Olson soon after in 1951. Together they raised four children in Superior. Florence was a busy homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and many still rave about her red velvet cake. She enjoyed social gatherings such as Tops, her Red Hat Club and her Birthday club. She especially loved to meet at Julie’s restaurant for a meal. She was a wonderful host of family dinners and gatherings at the family cabin, “Afterhours”. Florence is remembered by her children and grandchildren as the self-proclaimed “matriarch” of their family. She always spoke her mind but was okay with others doing the same. She shared many words of wisdom with her kids and grandkids over the years. Some advice they took and others they ignored, but they all loved coming back to visit her as she aged. Her family is happy that they helped her cross two items off her bucket list, seeing Oprah and Josh Groban live, but unfortunately they never were able to get her an opportunity to show her true talent - as a contestant on Wheel of Fortune.
Florence is survived by her children and their spouses, Kirk (Carol) Olson of Quinnesec, MI, Mark (Nanette) Olson, Kathleen (Andy) Nelson of Superior and Kevin (Kristin) Olson of Lake Nebagamon, her grandchildren Kristin (Lonny) Hogan, Kelly Olson, Kyle (Sara) Olson, Jenni (Eric) Gallagher, Kevin Olson, Rexi (Camber) Olson, Refi (Jessie) Olson and Kaden Olson. She had 8 great grandchildren Jameson, Eden, William, Amelia, Callum, Roman, Andrew and Wyatt. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, and all nine of her siblings.
The entire family would like to extend their gratitude to Mark and Nanette for their exceptional care of Florence during her final years.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming. Visitation will be at 10:00am, followed by an 11:00am service. Luncheon to follow.
