Betty Jane Crist

Betty Jane Crist, 96, lifelong resident of Superior, died Saturday May 7, 2022, at Aspen Health and Rehab in South Range, WI.

Betty was born in Superior on July 12, 1925, to Arthur and Gladys Dahlberg. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Crist, on July 18, 1946, and they celebrated 57 years together until his passing in 2003.

Betty’s career started out as a receptionist for Dr. Finn of Superior. She also worked for Duluth Avionics, Western Union in Texas, and lastly, she worked for Dr. I.H. Levine and Dr. Max Levine at the Superior Clinic as an LPN for many years.

She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran church where she volunteered in the office doing secretarial work. She belonged to the BevLoBets Club, which started in grade school with a group of best friends, and they remained very close for many years.

Betty enjoyed doing puzzles, cooking, and loved to travel with her husband in her younger years to various music concerts, whether it be country or bluegrass music. She enjoyed taking trips with her sister, Nancy who resided in Naples, Florida, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Betty loved having a cat and found her cat provided her comfort and companionship in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; son, David Crist; grandson, Lonnie Crist; brother, Arthur Dahlberg; and sisters, Nancy Kerns and Shirley Dahlberg.

Betty is survived by her sons, Daniel (Jill) Crist of Duluth, Steven (Janeil) Crist of South Range; grandchildren, Angela Crist, Carrie (Corey) Velin, Rachelle (Jason) Eades, Amanda Crist, Jason (Jenny) Swanson, Arron (Penny) Bosteder; 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 17th from 11:00 a.m. until the Noon funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St., Superior. Rev. Carolyn Mowchan will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
