Delores Evelyn Pananen, died peacefully on November 20, 2021 at Villa Marina Nursing Home at the age of 85. She was born to John and Jennie Pananen on August 10, 1936 in Brule. She was a longtime resident of Superior and graduated from Central High School. She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
Dee Dee was a businesswoman who spent her career in the banking industry, first with St. Louis Bank in Duluth then later with US Bank from which she retired in 2004. She was a mentor and role model to many women.
Dee Dee always kept in touch with her large extended family which was very important to her. She loved playing with her nieces and nephews when they were young and was always interested in their lives as they grew up.
Dee Dee enjoyed shopping trips to Minneapolis, especially to Dayton’s downtown. She loved taking everyone out to both lunch and dinner on her birthday.
Dee Dee was always enthusiastic and lived life on her own terms. She will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Villa Marina for their wonderful care of Dee Dee.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Helen and Carol and her brother Jim.
She is survived by sisters Arlene Franzen, Superior, Donna Pearson, Superior, Linda (Lowell) Schultz, Marshfield, WI and brothers Erland (Loretta) Pananen, North Pole, AK, Cliff (Jackie) Pananen, Superior, Albert Pananen, Superior, Don Pananen, Lantana, FL and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
