JoAnn E. Novak, 72, of Superior, died Wednesday, May 13, 2020 after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family.
JoAnn was born on January 12, 1948 the daughter of Elaine (Glader) and John Earls, Sr. She married James W. Novak on August 23, 1975 and they celebrated 40 years of marriage until his passing in 2015.
She enjoyed going to the Casino and playing cards, bingo, and cribbage. She also enjoyed playing smear and putting puzzles together. The love of her family and being with them gave her the ability to fight through her illnesses. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was the Queen of her whole family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson, Wyatt Smith.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Joy Smith of Superior, Rory Smith of Superior, Jeanne (Paul) Abrahamzon of Poplar, Kandi (Keith) Anderson of Superior, and Darcie (Matt) Burbul of South Range; grandchildren, Chad (Stacy) Williams, Joshua Williams, Kortni (Jake) Anderson, Meagan (Zach) Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Johnnie (Mike) Krig, Kendall Abrahamzon, Travis Abrahamzon, Whitney Smith, Viva (Shay) Burbul and Emjay Burbul; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Gloria Enger, Albert Earls, John ‘Bucky’ Earls, Jr., Scott (Dawn) Earls, and Randy Ruhanen; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Sharon Lane.
Whoever you introduced to Mama Jo was treated like family. She will be greatly missed. JoAnn’s last words to everyone, “Love you all.”
A Celebration of the Queen’s Life will be held and announced by the family. If desired, memorials may be made to the family.
The family would like to give a special thank you to JoAnn’s Doctors and Caregivers throughout her illness, which allowed her a longer stay with them.
