Jack Waite

Jack Waite died November 3, 2019 at Superior Rehabilitation Center where he was in hospice care.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Kleinendorst (Tom) of Andover, MN, his brother, David Waite (Dianne) of Superior, WI; two grandchildren and good friend Beth Arnson of Superior.

He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Dorleen Bergeson Waite; his son Bradley Waite; his sister Roberta Nelson; and his parents Ernie and Elsie Waite.

Jack was a graduate of Duluth Business University and worked as an accountant at NBC and Larson Chevrolet before his lengthy tenure at Superior Water Light. He was involved as a soldier in the occupation of Japan in ’45 and ’46. Recently he went to Washington D.C. on the Honor Flight with other WWII veterans.

After Jack and Dorleen retired, they spent much of their time at their summer home at Lake-of-the-Woods and their winter home in Mesa, Arizona.

He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on the council. Jack participated in golf (the Over-the-Hill Gang at Nemadji), bowling and gardening. He was an avid reader.

Jack will be remembered for his kindness, his thriftiness and his volunteer work at tax time and his fearless weather forecasts. He was a great mentor to his brother after their father died in 1952.

Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 2022 E 2nd Street, Superior on Monday, November 11, 2019 beginning at 10:30 AM, and will continue until the 11:30 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Victor St. George officiating.

Military honors will be accorded at the church by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Jack’s name to: Zion Lutheran Church, 2022 E 2nd Street, Superior, WI 54880 or Salvation Army, 916 Hughitt Avenue, Superior, WI 54880.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
