Lloyd A. “Bucky” Radtke


Lloyd A. “Bucky” Radtke: 76 years old of Bristol, WI unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday June 12, 2021. He was born December 11, 1944, in Wausau, WI. The first son of the late Carl and Florence (neé Krueger) Radtke, moving to Solon Springs, WI at a young age. After graduating from St. Croix High School in 1963, Bucky moved to Bristol, WI. On March 19, 1966, he married Ruth Magwitz at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Bristol. Bucky was a true gear head always working on some sort of engine. Bucky started is auto technician career at Merten Motors VW in Kenosha, WI, later working at Bohn Auto Repair in Bristol. He then moved on as a machinist at C&R Gear Co. Benet Lake, WI, where he retired from in 2014. Bucky was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bristol where he was an usher and maintained the lawn equipment meticulously. He was a former member of the Bristol Fire Department and founding member of the Rescue Squad, a member of the Bristol Drift Busters Snowmobile Club, the Bristol Bowling League, and the Kenosha County Horseshoe League. He was the head pitman for the modified stock car crew of Bill Bohn for several years in the 1960’s and this is where he earned the nick name “Bucky”. Grandpa Bucky loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He grew up fishing and hunting northern Wisconsin and spent many fun times with his lifelong buddy David Hankins.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years Ruth; a daughter Rebecca(Becky) (Chad Kramlich) Radtke of Merton, WI; grandchildren: Jordan (Daniel) Ortiz, Vincent (Tara) Gabrys, and Carlie (Ryan Nutter) Gabrys; great-grandchildren: Kaden, Benjamin, and Elliott; a great-granddaughter on-the-way; in-laws: Betty (Mike) McAlear and Lloyd (Mary) Magwitz; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Hankins Family, and friends. In addition to his parents, Bucky was preceded in death by his brother David Radtke, in-laws Art “Spud” and Doris Magwitz and lifelong friend David Hankins.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Saturday June 19, 2021, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7931 Bristol Rd. (Hwy 45) Bristol, WI 53104. Visitation will be held from 3PM until 7PM Friday and from 9AM until time of services Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or the Bristol Fire and Rescue Department in Bucky’s memory. Arrangements were entrusted to the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch.
