Lillian Joanne Miller, 83, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2020 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Facility in South Range, WI. Joanne was born in Iron River, WI on February 13, 1937. She grew up in Oulu, WI and attended the Pioneer and Washington School then South Shore High School in Port Wing where she graduated in 1954. Joanne was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu for all of her 83 years.

In 1990, Joanne married the love of her life, Francis Miller, and this spring they celebrated thirty years of marriage together. They lived in Maple, WI on the Granlund Farm. Joanne’s happy retirement years were spent going to flea markets and garage sales, playing scrabble with her cousins, Linda and Eunice, going to “lunch bunch”, reading, thousand and thousands of books in her lifetime, listening to cousin, Mike Granlund broadcast Northwestern Tiger football and basketball games and watching her beloved Green Bay Packers. She loved when her best friend Liz Pellman or her sister-in-law, Gloria Hissa would come over to visit. She also spent a lot of time talking on the telephone to her friends, Bev, Janet and Betty or nieces, Barb and Chrissy. Her very favorite pastime was going with Frannie to listen to him play in his band. She was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Francis; children, Bruce Hissa, Webster, TX, Warren (Loretta) Hissa, Eagle, CO, John (Gina) Hissa, Iron River, WI, Ann (Bill) Trautt; Oulu, WI, and Nancy (Al) Ramirez, Pearland, TX; stepchildren, Joe and Pam Miller, Duluth, MN, and Todd “Toad” Miller, Maple, WI; grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Ojanen, Brittany Leigh Hissa, Donnie (Courtney) Hissa and Timothy Hissa; great-granddaughters, Eleanor and Quinn; great-grandson, Magnus Evan; her loving niece, Barbara Jean Tapani; nephew, Sonny (Mary) Heikkila; great-niece, Christina (Rudy) Rantala, who she always said was more like a daughter to her; her great-nephews, Brian (Jessica) and Robert (Beverly) Tapani; many cousins and so many dear, dear friends. She was also especially proud of being a great, great, great Auntie to Emalia and Kirsi. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lillian; brothers, Raymond and Robert; and her sister, Eleanor.
