Judith “Judy” Ann Flatten, 72, of Superior, died Sunday September 26, 2021 at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.

Judy was born May 13, 1949 in Ladysmith, WI, daughter of Maurice and Pearl (Briggs) Cairns.

On September 16, 1966 in Bessemer, Michigan, Judith Cairns and Alfred Flatten were united in marriage.

Judy was a devoted wife and mother. She was a wonderful cook and baker as all the family would agree, and many of her recipes were handed down when asked for. She liked Sudoku, jigsaw puzzles and watching Hallmark movies. Playing any kind of game was serious business as she played to win!

Time with family was always important. As a pastor’s wife for many years she was dearly loved as a good listener, wise advice giver, favorite potluck dish bringer and best hugger. She lived and shared her faith in Jesus.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and brother, Ronald Cairns.

Survivors include her husband of over 55 years, Reverend Alfred “Fred” Flatten; sons, Alfred (Georgeann) Flatten IV, Jeffrey (Beth) Flatten, and Mark (Amy) Flatten; grandchildren, Leighann (Tony) Mensen, Brittany (Niels) VanVliet, Matthew Flatten, Abby Flatten, Emily (Damien) Koeppel, Rachel Flatten, Alfred Flatten V, Jonas Flatten and Allison Flatten; great-granddaughters, Natalie Mensen and Billie VanVliet; sister, Ardene LaChapelle; several nieces and nephews; and special fur friend, Sassy the cat.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Spooner Cemetery, Spooner, WI, at a later date.
