Joyce L. Darker

Joyce L. Darker, 82, longtime resident of South Range, WI, died peacefully, Friday, September 11, 2020 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN. “She floats over troubles of life like froth above the idle wave.”
She was born in Superior, March 29, 1938, the daughter of William and Alice (Christianson) Lintula.
She was a graduate of Northwestern High School, class of 1956.
Joyce and her husband, Bill owned and operated the Silver Star in the 1980’s, and Joyce worked as a Secretary and Supervisor for the Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, retiring in 1995 after thirty years of service.
Joyce loved gardening and trips to the casino; she was an avid Viking’s fan and especially loved spending time with her friends and family. She was kind and loving and will be remembered for her great sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (David) Pioro; her best partner, Robert Ronchi and their dog, Baillie; granddaughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Linge; great-granddaughters, Adrea and Brooke Linge; sister, Shirley Johnson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, some are gone and some remain, all of whom she loved dearly; and many beloved friends she made throughout her years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alice and William Lintula; husband, William Darker; son, William Darker Jr.; sister, Bette (Gerald) Nollet; and her beloved dog, “Murphy”.
Services for Joyce will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Kindred House, and the staff at Essentia Health Hospice and Solvay Hospice House, for the wonderful care they provided.
