Jonathan Mark Peterson
One of God’s Gifts to All of Us
Jonathan Mark Peterson packed a lot of living in 36 years! He took his last earthly breath on August 16, 2021, at his home in Hugoton, Kansas, following a long health battle. A celebration of Jon’s life will be held on October 23 in Duluth, MN (details below).
Jon was born October 22, 1984 in North Brunswick, NJ, and grew up in Superior, WI, with strong enduring connections in Duluth, MN. An entrepreneur, traveler, thinker, and brilliant lifelong learner, Jon was a vibrant character who could be found enjoying life with his friends, deeply engrossed in his next significant venture, or running the table at the local pool halls. His resolute heart overflowed with enthusiasm as he faced challenges and engaged the world around him. Jon reached out with compassion as a defender to the less fortunate. He had a keen ability to connect with others of all ages at their level. His unmatched wit, animated creativity, and unique sense of humor are forever etched in the lives of those who were privileged to know him well. Much glory to God his creator for endowing Jon with all these amazing attributes and more! Many thanks to Him as well for blessing all of us with this one whose name meant, “The Lord has given a defender.”
Jon graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008 with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Commerce and Business Administration. At the time of his passing, Jon was enrolled and excelling in the Academy of Advanced Manufacturing, working towards his IACT Certification through Rockwell Automation, while employed by Seaboard Energy. Concurrently he was making significant headway in the prototyping phase of his entrepreneurial robotics venture, and was working on an impressive indoor vertical gardening project.
Left with many fond and amusing memories are Jon’s parents, David and Carlene Peterson, grandmother, Joy Driessen, sister Erica Peterson, brother Joshua (Lyndsay) Peterson, aunts Cecelia Peterson, Julie (David) Neely, Carla Peterson, Sheila Kiener, Mary (Todd) Leuthner, and Barb Kiener. Uncles include Tim (Dia) Peterson, Robert (Carol) Peterson, Ben Peterson, and James (Judy) Kidd. His former wife, Laura, beloved nieces Emy & Finley, numerous cousins, other relatives, and dear friends also remain.
Crossing over before Jon were grandparents Carl and Lucille Peterson and Leon Kiener, aunt Barbara Kidd, cousin Jay Peterson, and some close friends. There are also a few unborn family members who are now enjoying his entertaining company in heaven!
A celebration of Jon’s life will be held at 10:30 am, October 23, 2021, at Rock Hill Community Church, 2401 W. 5th St, Duluth, MN. A lunch and special event will follow, details to be given at the memorial service. It would honor Jon if you would do something kind to someone less fortunate than you. Consider making a donation in Jon’s name to www.crossing-outreach.org (a group that impacts the most vulnerable populations in St. Joseph), the Epilepsy Foundation (www.epilepsy.com), or to another benevolent charity.
