John Hudacek

John J. Hudacek, 95, of St. Louis Park, MN passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on March 17, 2021 following a short stay at Colonial Acres Rehabilitation Center in Golden Valley, MN.

Johnny was born Aug 8, 1925, the fifth of 13 children to Paul and Serafina (Karaba) Hudacek in Superior, WI. At age 18, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served in the pacific aboard the USS Preston DD 795 from 1943 until his discharge in 1946. He returned to Superior, WI and graduated from Superior High School. Later he attended trade school and became a Federal Grain Warehouse Examiner for the USDA, retiring in 1993 after 43 yrs of service.

On November 28, 1959, John married Dorothy Yliniemi at Holy Assumption Catholic Church in Superior. They were married for over 61 yrs. They had two children, Alan and Jane. Through Dorothy’s loving care John was able to live comfortably and contently at home until very recently.

The Hudacek family would like to express their gratitude to all of Johnny’s care givers and doctors, whom he quickly considered friends and a new audience for his jokes and questions.

John is preceded in death by parents; siblings Joe (Shirley) Hudacek, Tom Hudacek, Theresa (Joe) Paulus, Mary (Dick) Doyle, Betty (Phil) Meysman, and Bernadine (Dick) Sampson. He is survived by wife, Dorothy; children Jane (Todd B.) Hudacek, Alan (Gretchen) Hudacek; grandchildren, Kaija, Elli, and Kristian Hudacek; siblings, Frances (Jack) Turk; Paul (Betty) Hudacek, Ed (Carol) Hudacek, Sally Ward, Bill Hudacek, David (Lynn) Hudacek and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A private family Mass was held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
