Janice M. Acosta

Janice M. Acosta, 83, of Superior, died Monday, September 7, 2020, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on January 31, 1937, in Duluth the daughter of Florence (Bolin) and Einar Sohlstrom.

Janice was a terminal superintendent at Murphy Oil for many years and before working and retiring from BFI (Waste Management).

She was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Janice was a double breast cancer survivor and had a sweet tooth. She enjoyed bowling, going to Black Bear Casino, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Duane and Dennis Sohlstrom; and first husband, Jack ‘John’ Carlson.

Janice is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Terri) Carlson of Hawthorne and Jacquelyn (Joe) Marzan of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Jeremy (Amber) Carlson of St. Petersburg, FL, Matt (Sierra) Wicklund of Las Vegas, Katelynn (Kevin) Polak of Wenatchee, WA, Allysa (Alvin) Wicklund of Las Vegas, Janae Marzan of Las Vegas, Joey Marzan of Las Vegas, and Jedi Marzan of Las Vegas; many great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Ellison of Tower, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2020, at Graceland Cemetery in Superior with Pastor Will Mowchan of Pilgrim Lutheran Church officiating.
