James T. “Jimmie” Stranko

James T. “Jimmie” Stranko, 89, lifelong Superior resident, died peacefully, Friday, February 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born in Superior, December 6, 1931, the son of Joseph and Mary (Zowin) Stranko.

Jimmie graduated high school and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Andrews June 26, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Church in Billings Park, and they celebrated sixty-five years of marriage before her passing.

Jimmie worked as a water plant operator at SWL&P, retiring in 1990 after thirty-four years of dedicated service.

He was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Moose Club 606 in Superior.

Above all, Jimmie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and he will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Kirk) Parks, and Laurie (Jason) Johnson; son, David (Barbara) Stranko; grandchildren, David, Leslie, Christopher, Kevin, Jessica and Shauna; great-granddaughter, Arianna; and brother, Mike Stranko.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barb; and his parents, Joseph and Mary (Zowin) Stranko.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior on Thursday, March 4, 2021 with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date.
