James R. Sampson

James (Jim) Ronald Sampson, 83, of Superior, passed away on October 26, 2020 in Superior. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by beloved family and music.
Jim was born in Superior to Agnes and William Sampson on November 17, 1936. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Superior in 1954 and from Wisconsin State College (now UWS) in Superior in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Jim worked in sales for Crane/Westburne Supply Company for 40 years. He loved classic cars and radio control airplanes and was a frequent exhibitor and winner at local car shows. Jim was also a brilliant pianist over his entire lifetime who played classical music (Chopin was a favorite) and oldies rock. He enjoyed composing on his piano, playing music with his fiancée, Renae and dancing.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and William Sampson, and his brothers, Richard and William Sampson.
Jim is survived by his fiancée Renae Hendershot, daughters Cherie Sampson and Kristina Sampson, grandson Taren Lewis, and former spouse Doris Sampson.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Superior, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. and burial at Calvary Cemetery in Superior. Please respect mask and social distancing guidelines while indoors.
