James C. Izzard

James ‘Jim’ C. Izzard, 85, of Superior, died Friday, November 26, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

James was born in Superior on February 5, 1936, the son of Clifford and Anne (Larsen) Izzard.

He married Joan Bartley on June 18, 1954, and they celebrated 59 years of marriage until her death in 2013.

Jim had worked for the Soo Line and CP Railroad from 1957-1996. He then managed the Moon Lake Park Campground and later managed Bartley’s Sales and Service.

He was a longtime member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing in his cribbage league, camping, and doing ancestry. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; mother, Anne; father and stepmother, Cliff and Toni; brothers, John ‘Jack’ (Audrey) Izzard, and Ernie Izzard; and an infant sister, Judith.

Jim is survived by his sons, Mike (Kathy) Izzard and Brad (Kim) Izzard; grandchildren, Matt (Lindsay), Jordan (Scott), Katie, Justin (Sarah), Heather (Ryan), Sara (Michael), and Chad (Holly); 16 great grandchildren; sister, Joann (Dexter) Larson; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 2nd from 10:00 a.m. until the Noon Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matt, Justin, and Chad Izzard, Michael Pfankuch, Ryan Anderson, and Scott Krisak.
