Herman Eugene Karich, 88, of Lake Nebagamon, WI, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.

He was born November 8, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to Herman and Viola (Sparks) Karich.

Gene served his country in the United States Army at the time of the Korean War. He earned his electrical engineering degree from the University of IL at Urbana-Champaign and then worked as an electrical engineer at Minnesota Power for 34 years, retiring in 1994.

Gene met his wife, Clara Rose Falk, as a young boy while visiting his grandparents who lived next door to her in Lake Nebagamon. They eventually married and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They had four children together. Gene was genuinely interested in his family and friends and always had time for a good conversation which often included a witty joke, or two. He could be found caring for the home he and Clara built together, tending his vegetable garden, walking or biking the village streets, and assisting with numerous family household projects throughout the years. Family was of the utmost importance to him, and to them, he gave his time and love, unconditionally.
