Gloria A. Berg

Gloria A. Berg, passed away peacefully at the age of 84, surrounded by loved ones, on February 29, 2020.

Gloria was born on November 8, 1935 and lived all of her life in Superior. She graduated from Superior East High School in 1954. She was married to her husband Leroy on March 25, 1961 at Concordia Lutheran Church, then went on to join Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Gloria worked at the Old City Market in Superior and with Wausau Insurance.

She was on the auxiliary for St Mary’s Hospital, was a member of the PTA in Superior and served as its president. She was also a lifetime member, 51 years, of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary Post 847 and served as Treasure and President. She was also the 10th district president for 2 years.

Gloria enjoyed her life bowling, camping, traveling, and the many trips she made to England with her husband LeRoy, for the Air Force reunions. She will be missed.

She was predeceased by her husband, LeRoy C. Berg, Sr; her parents, Harold and Lillian Flayton; daughter, Lorraine Cummings; brother, Ted Flayton; sister-in-law, Diane Flayton; and brother-in-law, Richard Felien.

Gloria is survived by her six children and their spouses, sons, Leroy ‘Skip’ (Jackie) Berg Jr. of Superior, Larry (Susan) Berg of Missouri, Harold ‘Harry’ Berg of Eau Claire; daughters, Sandra Skustad of Superior, Leslie Berg and Janis (Eddie Joe) Davis both of Texas; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St. Rev. Will Mowchan will officiate. Following the service, Gloria will be laid to rest and reunited with her husband LeRoy in Soldiers Square at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Encompass, Superior Rehabilitation Center and Grace Lutheran nursing home in Altoona, WI for the care they gave Gloria during her stay. They did a great job in making Gloria’s life more comfortable after she lost her husband.
