Geraldine J. “Gerry” Harty

Geraldine J. “Gerry” Harty, 83, longtime area resident, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Monday, October 19, 2020 at her home in South Range, WI.

She was born in Chicog Township, WI, April 3, 1937 the daughter of George and Charlotte (Featherly) McDowell.

She was united in marriage to John Harty, October 20, 1954 and they were soon to celebrate sixty-six years of marriage.

Gerry enjoyed her days as a homemaker and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, crocheting, sewing and genealogy. Above all, Gerry loved spending time with her family and friends at the cabin on the lake in Minong.

She is survived by her beloved husband, John; daughters, Terry (Mike) McGinnis, Winnebago, MN, Catherine Harty, South Range, WI, Colleen Harty, Superior, WI, and Wendy (Randy) Polson, South Range, WI; grandchildren, Alyssa (Duane) Helle, New Ulm, MN, Briana McGinnis, Charleston, SC, Michael (Nicole Sandstrom) McGinnis, Minneapolis, MN, Corinna (Dewayne) Decker, North Mankato, MN, Amanda (Paul) Powe Jr., South Range, WI, Johnie Harty, South Range, WI, Corrie (Steve Christner) Harty, Trego, WI, Casey (Kodi) Brunner, Hedgesville, WV, Bradley Matousek, Milwaukee, WI, Craig (Abigail) Polson, Cottage Grove, MN, Lydia (Shane) Schroeder, Duluth, MN, and Megan (Jerry) Maki, South Range, WI; several great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Jones, Bozeman, MT, and Gail (Ben) Keup, Webb Lake, WI.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Undahl, and Adeline Peterson; and brothers, George, Leon, and Raymond McDowell.

Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 PM, Monday, October 26, 2020 at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior. The Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
