Evelyn Hanson, 91, of Barnes, Wisconsin, passed away from COVID, on Monday, November 29, 2021 at MMC in Ashland, Wisconsin. Evelyn Amelia was born on February 19, 1930 in Osceola, Wisconsin to Elsie and Louis Gerlach. She was the youngest of 3 siblings, brother, Arnold, and sister, Leona who are deceased.

Evelyn married Roger Ellsworth Hanson on September 6, 1947. They were members of Bethel Lutheran Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the piano. They retired to Lake Ellison in Barnes, Wisconsin, where they were members of the Barnes Community Church. Roger passed away in 2000. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage. Evelyn married Egbert (Bud) Heerema on May 22, 2004 and they enjoyed 17 years of marriage.

Evelyn wore many hats in her life. She worked at the National Bank of Commerce, ran the Nemadji Trailer Park, leased and ran the Koffee Kup in Barnes, and served senior meals at the Barnes Town Hall. She was an avid sewer and crocheted many blankets and afghans for her family. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. There were numerous camping trips, snowmobiling trips, and boating weekends. Dancing at North Star ballroom and playing many, many games of pinocle with special friends Robert and Evelyn Hagen, Frank and Barb McCarville, and Ken and Maxine Udean. She loved watching football and was a Minnesota Vikings fan…what a revolting development!

She is survived by her 4 daughters, Debbie Andersen of Superior, Pam (Mike) Stanny of Ashland, Lori (Bill) Venne, of Superior, and Dana Hanson-Nordrum of Superior. She is further survived by 4 grandchildren, Traci (Ken) Philaja of Superior, Jon (Michelle) Pahos of Superior, Chris (Krissy) Stanny of Duluth, and Phil (Amanda) Stanny of Ironwood, Michigan; She has 11 great-grandchildren, Nick Ward, Kena nd Kim Philaja, Wyatt, Cody, and Tanner Pahos, Ezra Stanny, Olivia and Zuri Stanny, and Sawsha and Nityis Rosin. She is also survived by her husband, Bud, of Solon Springs.
