Dorothy Brunner-Peterson

Dorothy Brunner Peterson, 96, longtime resident of Brule, WI, died peacefully, Monday, January 18, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Superior, WI, February 10, 1924 to William and Edna (Wick) Denston and has lived in the Brule area since 1975.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon and its Altar Society Knitters. She was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Iron River.
Dorothy enjoyed needle work such as knitting, Brazilian needle art, and anything artistic.
She volunteered her time making many items for hospital and cancer center patients, and made the Hardanger altar cloths for St. Anthony’s in Lake Nebagamon and St. Michael’s in Iron River, in memory of her late husbands.
Dorothy also enjoyed gardening and volunteered at Peterson Florist and Greenhouse in Iron River for over 16 years.
Above all, Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (James) Murphy, Neenah. WI, Elizabeth (Daniel) Kane, La Crosse, WI, Barbara (Sidney) Soltis, Verona, WI, Dorothy (Randy) Busch, Independence, WI, Jane Brunner, La Crosse, WI, Theresa (Steve) Peyer, Oakdale, MN, Charlene (Dan) Chapman, Rockwall, Tx; sons, Larry (Sharon) Brunner, Blanchard, OK, Mike Brunner, Watertown, WI, Tom (Paulette) Brunner, Coloma, WI, William Brunner, Brule, WI, Richard Brunner, Burlington, WI, Jerome Brunner, Brule, WI, Christopher (Krisandra) Brunner, Chickasha, Ok, Joe Brunner, Lake Nebagamon, WI, and Mark (Joni) Brunner, Mt. Horeb, WI; fifty grandchildren; eighty-two great-grandchildren and a great-granddaughter due in February 2021; 1 great-great-grandson and a great-great-granddaughter due in April 2021; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Roman L. Brunner (1995); her second husband, Raymond Peterson (2005); son, Charles Brunner (2014); daughter-in-law, Lynda Brunner (2020); her parents; and brothers, Everett and Larry Denston; sister, Dolores Roos; and great-granddaughter, Anne Catherine Murphy.
Due to current restrictions on group gatherings, a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon at a later date.
Inurnment will be in the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Brule, WI.
