Robert "Bob" Carlsgaard

Robert "Bob" Carlsgaard, 88, Superior resident, died peacefully Friday, March 8, 2019 at Villa Marina Health and Rehab in Superior.

He was born on January 17, 1931 in Carlton, MN to Jeanette Petite and raised by his Great Aunt, Johanna Carlsgaard.

He graduated from the former East High School in 1950.

Bob served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict with the combat engineers.

He was a delivery driver for Russell Creamery and Meadow Gold Dairy, and was a custodial engineer for the Superior School District for many years.

He married Jean Nelson on February 13, 1954 and they celebrated sixty-five years of marriage.

Bob was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a previous member of the former St. Adalbert Catholic Church.

He was a wonderful craftsman. He enjoyed building and remodeling projects especially building the family home and cabin. He loved spending time with his family and grandkids and spending summers at his cabin at Lake Minnesuing. He was an also an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Great Aunt, Johanna; and brother, Charles Williams.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jean; two daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Fischer, Cynthiana, KY, and Jani (Shawn) Dalbec, Superior, WI; four sons, Randy Carlsgaard, Onamia, MN, Tim Carlsgaard, Minneapolis, MN, Terry Carlsgaard, Dallas, TX and Thomas (Dawn) Carlsgaard, Hudson, WI; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Shirley Currey.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 PM, Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior, with a Scripture Service to be held at 7:00 PM, led by Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci.

Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4315 East 3rd Street, Superior, and will continue until the 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date.
