Gayle Roberta (Filbey) Milinkovich
Gayle Roberta (Filbey) Milinkovich, 83, of Superior, WI passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital with beloved family by her side.
Gayle was born March 30, 1935 to Frank and Faye (Novak) Filbey in Superior, WI. She graduated from Superior Central High School in June of 1953.
She met the love of her life, Matt, in 1952 and they married on February 27, 1953. They were looking forward to celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary in a few weeks.
Gayle worked for several years at Maurice's in Superior before becoming a devoted stay at home mom to her six children. She was active in the PTA and ran the concession stand as a volunteer while her sons played Little League Baseball. She later returned to work at the former Superior Memorial Hospital in Central Supply for 17 years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Cathedral of Christ the King in Superior.
Hobbies included going to the casino, monthly lunches with friends and crocheting while watching her favorite soaps and gameshows. She would spend countless hours making afghans and would give them to those she cared about or those in need. Gayle was a great cook who was known for her homemade apple squares and enjoyed preparing big meals for the holidays with her family. Family was everything to her. She especially loved her grandkids and great grandkids. They always brought a smile to her face.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, son, Ron (Skeeter) Milinkovich and sister, Jean Rossiter.
Gayle is survived by her loving husband, Matt; children, Rob (Sherry Ray), Rick (Mona), Randy, Julie Nelson and Janet (Randy) Back; sisters, Geri Johnson of Superior and Gwen DeClute of California; as well as 14 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Gathering of family and friends from 9 am until the 10 am memorial service Friday, Feb. 15th in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
