Joseph Bratek, 93, longtime Superior area resident, died peacefully Tuesday, February 5, 2019 surrounded by his family at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN.
He was born in Superior, March 9, 1925, the son of Jacob and Mary (Pleva) Bratek.
Joseph served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He worked for the Soo Line Railroad for many years before his retirement, prior to that he sailed as a Wheelsman on the Great Lakes Fleet.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph (James Creer) Ramsey, James (Priscilla) Bratek; grandson, Jacob (Julien) Bratek; granddaughter, Elizabeth (William) Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace; and his infant daughter.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4315 East 3rd Street, Superior, and will continue until the 12:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior.
