Shirley A.

Shirley A. Hagberg was born to Queen Kelly DeRosier and Robert C. DeRosier on July 19, 1923 in Grand Rapids, MN. When she was young she moved from Minnesota to Superior, WI where she lived a wholesome, simple life. In high school she worked as a hospital aide, so she knew she wanted to be a nurse. She went to Detroit to work at Grace Memorial Hospital and entered the Army Cadet Nurse program. Shirley served at Percy Jones Army Hospital in Battle Creek Michigan where they treated amputee soldiers during WWII. When the war ended married the good looking boy next door, Gene (Clarence Eugene) Hagberg, the Navy pilot. They had three children in Superior, then moved to Fremont CA in 1959 where their youngest son was born, and moved to Prunedale in 1962, where Shirley was a practicing RN for many years. After they both retired Shirley and Gene joined the Monterey Bay Mineral Society where they enjoyed close friendships. In 2002 they moved to Fresno to be closer to their family. Shirley was a warm person who loved her husband, her family, nursing, sewing (especially Barbie Doll clothes for craft fairs), reading and people.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Eugene Hagberg Sr, her brothers Robert C. DeRosier Jr. and Richard K. DeRosier. She is survived by her sons Skip (Clarence Jr.) and his wife Jackie, Steve and his wife Anne, Christopher and his wife Shirley M., and her daughter Sue Hedman and her husband Bill.
